Story

In 6 weeks I’ll be on the start line at Ironman Wales, one of the toughest triathlons in the world. An Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile (3.8km) swim, followed by a 112 mile (180km) bike, all followed by a 26.2 mile (42km) run. You do them one after another in the same day and, because it’s Wales, it’ll be hilly and tough. I signed up to this adventure without intending to raise money for charity because it’s a challenge that I want to take on. However, during my training, my wonderful friends Simmy and Lday welcomed, and heartbreakingly, said goodbye to, their son Isaiah. Isaiah was a great fighter but despite his will to live, he died at 17 days old in December 2018. As the ever generous people I know them to be, Simmy and Lday have offered endless praise to the staff at the Bristol hospital where Isaiah was treated. They have asked for money to be raised in his name, to Bliss and Southmead Hospital Charity (North Bristol NHS Trust) to provide more great care to more premature little ones like Isaiah. So I’m now embarking on this challenge not just for me, but also to raise money for this gorgeous little boy too and I’d be really grateful if you would consider making a donation in Isaiah’s name to this fund.
